Hustings Diary

Please note that these hustings have taken place and Alison has been selected.

I have been shortlisted as one of two prospective Labour candidates for the post of North Yorkshire Police, Fire & Crime Commissioner.  As part of the selection process, Labour party members can attend your Constituency Labour Party (CLP) hustings and cast your vote.

Due to the pandemic, these hustings or selection meetings will be held on virtual platforms such as Zoom or Teams. You will be able to hear both candidates speak and ask us questions.

At the end of each hustings meeting a ballot of all members in attendance will be conducted online using Anonyvoter.com. Each CLP Secretary will be issued with a ballot paper to record the result.  Each CLP will be entitled to cast one vote, which will be weighted by CLP membership. The candidate gaining the highest proportion of the weighted votes of all CLPs who returned a ballot paper will be deemed selected.

All ballots must be returned to the Yorkshire & Humber Regional Office by the CLP Secretary no later than 11.59pm on Sunday 10th January when the winner will be declared.

Please check with your CLP Secretary about the joining details for your meeting and make them aware of any virtual access platform requirements.
